He Profits Most who serves Best: Service Above Self

The Rotary Club of Red Bluff was chartered by Rotary International May 13, 1924. In the ensuing seventy years this organization has been a leader in making Red Bluff a better place to live. Until now there has been no effort to put into writing the various local activities performed by this group under the title of Community Service. That is one of the four `Avenues of Service' (the others are International Service, Club Service and Vocational Service) which Rotary Clubs throughout the world use to channel their obligation toward creating a better world.

In organizing this presentation some effort has been made to follow a time sequence for the projects. Those projects which are currently on-going are grouped together.

Many of the Community Service activities have required substantial personal effort by members. Some of the investments in a better community required only money.

Several Rotarians were involved in the preparation of this document and their efforts are gratefully acknowledged. The principal organizer was James R. Blackwood, past club president and past District Governor. Several other past presidents, notably Robert W. Grootveld, Thomas K. Moulton and Robert G. Lucas, contributed information and assistance. James T. Hixson, club secretary, researched prior year records for instances of projects.
